Business Warehouse Developer
Purpose
Business Warehouse Developer is responsible for the design, building and implementation of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing solutions using SAP Business Warehouse (BW) / BI / Integration Planning. In addition to development, this role will also participate in other project activities including testing, documentation and user training. The developer must work independently or with project managers to define work tasks and provide estimates. He/She may be asked to serve as a mentor or information resource for the staff on technologies within their area of expertise.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead efforts to implement and support an operational SAP BI/BW system (where possible) to satisfy business requirements or enhance/customize where necessary. Design and develop extractors, DSOs, cubes and reports including the use of ABAP where necessary.
• Work with others as appropriate to develop and manage SAP BI/BW implementations, upgrades and related test plans across the organization.
• Lead efforts in the requirements analysis for new BI/BW projects.
• Identify security requirements, including creation of new roles and/or addition to existing for given business.
• Work with the user community, other SAP Groups and Administrators in IT to successfully implement applications.
• Responsible for meeting all assigned/agreed on target dates for projects as well as individual tasks.
• Maintain the design, code, documentation, and testing procedures during the functional lifecycle of the system, after initial implementation, based on input from the user community.
• Performs all SAP component, assembly, and integration testing required and documents the results of all testing in accordance with Program procedures and standards.
• Supports quality reviews and other external evaluation of all SAP BI/BW design, development, and testing efforts.
• Stays current on the latest trends and methods in application development to adequately support the needs of the company.
• Provides training and support to application administrators and/or end users.
• Participate in the creation of BI/BW development standards while adhering to policies, methodologies, standards, and guidelines.
• Proactively and effectively communicate potential problems, recommended solutions and progress. Work directly with SAP identifying and resolving bugs and requesting improvements in functionality.
• Participate in company-sponsored activities, including suggestion programs, quality training, etc.
• Perform other duties and functions as required.
Education/Work Experience
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree in business; MS in Computer Science or MBA preferred. At least 6 years experience, 3+ years hands-on experience developing / maintaining SAP BI/BW Solutions required;
• At least 2 SAP BW full lifecycle implementations including data modeling, extractions, data staging, loadings, transformations, and reporting.
• Must possess a solid understanding of all facets of SAP BI/BW including data extraction, transformation, loading, data modeling, query definition, web application designer, report designer and performance tuning and monitoring.
• Working knowledge and understanding of SAP ERP Modules (SD, MM, FI/CO etc), SAP CRM, SAP SCM and SAP SEM-BPS and IP required.
• Experience in designing and developing web based Dashboards.
Position Description
Business Warehouse Developer
• Extensive experience in requirements gathering and interpretation in a business intelligence environment required.
• Strong Knowledge in reporting/analytics: BEx Analyzer, Web Application Designer and Visual Composer.
• Experience with Web API's, command URLs, HTML, Java Script and Cascading Style Sheets required
• Must have experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) including a strong understanding of database design, SQL queries, PL/SQL, etc.
• Experience in ABAP to write Start Routines, Update/Transfer Rules, variables user exits, etc.,
• Experience with Information broadcasting setup (Scheduling and distributing reports)
• Thorough understanding of BI/BW security concepts
• Experience with SAP Enterprise Portals, Netweaver, and SAP XI desired
• Familiarity with Xcelsius, Business objects or BI Accelerator is a plus
