Our direct client in Stamford, a short walk from the Metro-North train station, seeks financial services business analysts with knowledge of derivatives.
Derivatives - Business Analyst
The Derivatives Operations group is seeking Business Analysts to facilitate the enhancement/expansion of various projects. The candidate will function in a fast-paced, dynamic environment interacting with personnel throughout Front Office, Finance, Technology, Operations, Compliance, Audit, and Regulatory reporting in multiple geographic locations.
The candidate will be expected to emphasize face-to-face communication over written documents and status meetings including planning, monitoring, controlling and measuring progress, ensuring an efficient and effective use of all resources. A strong knowledge of Interest Rates, Credit and Fixed Income Bond products is mandatory. Intricate knowledge in the area of Interest rates swaps is essential, covering Forward Rate agreements (FRA),Cash Bonds, Options & Swaptions (Caps, Floors, Digital and Bermudan options), Exotic products (Range Accruals, Spread Options) a benefit (not required), U.S. Treasury & Agency securities, Futures, Options on futures, Foreign exchange and Forward FX. It is necessary to have experience with risk management tools and concepts; valuing Bond / Derivative trading portfolios; accounting guidelines applicable to derivative trading practices.
Detailed specifics:
- Develop and work on a range of project initiatives from basic to complex strategic projects to enhance business performance from inception through implementation; coordinate/direct/manage project
- Responsible for delivery of strategic, cross-functional, projects with time, cost, scope and quality defined boundaries, in accordance with the company's methodologies and disciplines
- Build, develop, and grow relationships vital to the success of the projects
- Identify operational inefficiencies and risks; Identify and assess solutions to mitigate the risk or eliminate/reduce inefficiencies. Plan and design the evolution of prospective processes, procedures and workflows.
- Define project scope/success criteria, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Draft and submit project initiation documents and associated communications documents. Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
- Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
- Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
- Track project milestones and deliverables. Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
- Experience within a product P/L and/or product risk function of Capital Markets trading -(P&L attribution, valuation, and risk reporting) and span multiple asset classes (rates, equity, and credit)
- Strong knowledge of Fixed Income Bond and Derivative trading products mandatory: understanding of risk management tools and concepts; experience in valuing Bond / Derivative trading portfolio; knowledge of accounting guidelines applicable to a Derivatives Trading business
Requirements:
- Masters or Bachelor's degree +
- 5+ years' experience as a Business Analyst in the financial industry
- Knowledge of OTC Derivatives required; Interest Rates Derivative (required)
- Expertise in MS Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project
- Expertise in messaging solutions, use of messaging tools and languages (MQ,API, XML etc)
- Excellent negotiation skills
