Experienced ABAP Developer with OGSD (Oil and Gas SD)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The successful applicant will be responsible for developing SAP ABAP programs, using pertinent software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodology in order to enable business to optimize the capabilities of SAP and other business systems. This position requires completing all steps of the SDLC development processes by interpreting and understanding the functional requirements with Business Analysts, writing technical program specifications, and ABAP development. The developer must work independently or with project managers to define work tasks and provide estimates. Serve as a mentor or information resource for the staff on technologies within their area of expertise.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop custom reports, workflows, infosets, IDOC interfaces, BADIs and user exits as well work in the areas of table creation, enhancements, adobe forms, smart forms, SAP scripts, screens, menus, and dialog programming.
• Provide second and third level support for all aspects of SAP ABAP development and workflow administration, procedures and operating instructions. This position is responsible for successfully developing test plans and test scenarios for unit testing and participates in all aspects of System Development Life Cycle.
• Develop technical specifications for development efforts conforming to standards and provide detailed estimates. Work on assigned objects utilizing System Development Life Cycle processes. This includes analyzing, planning, designing, testing, and implementing development requests.
• Maintain, support and provide enhancements to existing ABAP code. This includes tier 2 and 3 support, debugging program errors and modifying production systems to support findings as well as providing customer support for business logic and workflow as it relates to applicable systems.
• Ensure adherence to appropriate documentation and programming standards, as well as approved procedures for making changes to any SAP environment.
• Translate usability findings and other feedback mechanisms into design enhancements and perform application monitoring and performance tuning.
• Research and evaluate relevant SAP technologies, business connectors and legacy conversion systems, which is essential to save and optimize development efforts.
• Ensure that all projects are completed in a timely manner and within budget, performing additional duties as required.
• Ensure appropriate changes to development objects are updated in all applicable SAP systems, instances, and clients as required.
• Resolve production problems and assume accountability for successful completion of assigned projects and tasks.
Required Experience:
• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience with design and development of Workflow applications.
• Must have experience and understanding of data flow and integration across modules.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Must be able to work individually or with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Must understand the software development life cycle and be able to perform systems analysis and design activities in accordance with development methodology.
• Prior SAP development experience is a plus.
• Minimum of 5+ years ABAP development experience in SAP 4.6C, ECC 5.0/6
• Support business processes to be able to interpret and understand functional requirements.
• Establish close relationship with others in IT Enterprise Applications to ensure that the business needs are understood and being met or planned appropriately.
• Works on and coordinates key SAP development and support deliverables
• Write project and technical documentation (Project Plan, System Requirements Specification, Technical Specification, Test Plan)
• Perform Unit Testing and support integration and user acceptance testing.
• Five years of recent SAP ABAP development experience with the following ABAP technical areas: Dialog programming, object oriented ABAP programming, tables and structures, user exits, menu painter, BDC and call transaction, BAPIs, ALE,ALV, Idoc, Reporting (interactive and conventional), SAP script, Smart Forms.
• Solid understanding of SAP as a business system from a technical point of view.
• Recent experience in ABAP development in the following SAP application module: SD, FI/CO, MM/PP,IS-OIL,OGSD
• Able to write sound technical documentation (System Requirements Specification, Technical Specification, GAP analysis, and Test Plans)
• Able to lead projects from initiation, requirements gathering, testing, thru to completion.
• Experience in both inbound and out-bound interfaces into SAP using XI, EDI.
• Recent experience in SAP version upgrades
• Experience with Adobe Flex, Adobe Forms, Web services, WebDynpro, Duet, and WorkFlow
• Outstanding communication skills to effectively communicate to all management levels.
• Project management competencies including formal project management training
• Knowledge of standard SAP ABAP, BW,BOBJ reports
• Five to Seven years of professional experience within Information Systems
• Must have strong communications and technical leadership skills
• Experience with ECC 6
• Strong SAP technical and design skills.
• Availability to travel up to 50%
• Exposure to SAP Basis technology
